Mean mug

In my homeroom class, I experiment with "mean mugs." This is exactly what it sounds like; you pull an angry face at someone in attempt to intimidate.

Me, I just like saying "mean mug."

Me: "Say, Kaneisha, what does your mean mug look like?"

Kaniesha: "I don't mean mug, I just mug."

OK then.

Violence in The Great Gatsby

We are currently reading The Great Gatsby. Early in the book, Tom Buchanan breaks his mistress's nose. We will occasionally watch a short clip of the movie to serve as a comparison; the kids, of course, were keen on watching the nose-break.

Right before it happened...

Richard: "Smack her! Smack her! SMACK HER!"

[Tom smacks her.]

Richard: "Woah! Not that hard!"

Self-Deprecation

Cliff: "You remember your frat boy days?"

Me: "No."

Cliff: "You know what a frat boy is don't you? It's a college student. Dude I'm dumb and I know that!"

apologies...

...for the delay, current (former?) readers. This has been one hectic year at my school. I blame the kids.

More to come, hopefully soon/more often.
