Violence in The Great Gatsby

We are currently reading The Great Gatsby. Early in the book, Tom Buchanan breaks his mistress's nose. We will occasionally watch a short clip of the movie to serve as a comparison; the kids, of course, were keen on watching the nose-break.


Right before it happened...

Richard: "Smack her! Smack her! SMACK HER!"

[Tom smacks her.]

Richard: "Woah! Not that hard!"

Lol I had a similar reaction when I watched the film. Good to know I'm on the same level as 10th graders lol
