Hot Pickle

Alisha: "Mr. Vonn, can I get a pass to the bathroom?"

Me: "Sure."

Alisha: "I had a hot pickle for breakfast this morning, it was not a good idea."

Me: "Alisha, no!"

Alisha: "Well, a hot pickle and some grape juice."

Me: "Alisha..."

Alisha: "I know, but I was hungry, it sounded good!"

It be lookin' trife trife!

According to Urban Dictionary, the slang term "trifling" is an adjective used to describe a "situation, person, or event that is pathetic." Now that you have that prior knowledge, here is some more from the winter break celebration:

"Yo Mr. Vonn, you should pre-slice the cake! When we cut the cake it be lookin' trife-trife!"

"Trife trife," conversely, is not in Urban Dictionary.

Ratatouille-on

My old favorite "-on" phrase was when one of my students saw me come back from lunch with a stack of Tupperware:

"Dang Mr. Vonn, looks like you got yo' grub on!"

But here's a new contender. This was overheard before we had cake in my homeroom's winter break party:

"He about to get his Ratatouille-on, yeah boy!"
